The rectus abdominis muscle, ordinarily referred to every bit the abs, are often viewed equally a gauge of physical fitness. If the abdominal muscles are visible on the outside of the trunk, it means that the muscles themselves are toned and that the body does not harbor an excess of fatty.
The abdominal muscles consist of 3 muscular sheets - the external and internal obliques and the transverse abdominis. The rectus abdominis supplement these muscles.
Many comic book heroes and villains display "cut" or highly visible abdominal muscles. Embankment goers and bodybuilders often have this quality as well.

Footstep-by-Stride Instructions for Drawing Abs
one. Draw a long, curved line. This outlines the lesser of the pectoralis major, the breast muscle commonly referred to as "pecs."
2. Draw a second curved line alongside the starting time, outlining the remaining pectoral muscle.
three. Draw a long curved line descending from i of the pecs. This outlines the side of the torso, or stomach.
4. Depict an inverted "Y" shaped line merely below the pecs. This outlines the first department of the rectus abdominis or abs muscles.
5. Draw two overlapping curved lines to grade the side by side section of the abs.
6. Depict a vertical curved line beneath the previous department of the abs, and two curved lines to outline the next section of the abs.
7. Depict a short curved line descending from the abs, and then describe a small circle below it. This forms the belly push. Then, draw two curved lines beneath it in a curved "V" shape. This completes the terminal section of the ab muscles.
eight. Draw two curved lines, overlapping with one some other and with the side of the pec muscle. This forms the bottom of the muscular arm. And then, draw a long, curved line to enclose the remaining side of the torso.
ix. Describe a "U" shaped line near the lesser of each of the pectoral muscles, indicating the presence of the nipple. And so, draw diagonal curved lines beyond the side of the torso. These could indicate ribs or the external obliques, some other muscle often classed nether the term "abs." Draw curved lines at the base of the torso to outline the tops of the hips. So, draw a pair of curved lines between these to indicate the junction of the legs and the torso.
